As projected for the past week, Danity Kane’s Welcome to the Dollhouse finished its debut week in the top spot on the Billboard 200 Album Chart! This marks their 2nd #1 debut. Congrats, girls!

Danity Kane’s “Welcome to the Dollhouse” goes straight to the penthouse on The Billboard 200, the second No. 1 in a row for the group. The MTV “Making the Band 3″ troupe, signed to Diddy’s Bad Boy imprint, moved 236,000 copies of its sophomore effort in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Danity Kane’s 2006 self-titled debut also started at the top, with 234,000.

It’s only March, but “Dollhouse” enjoys the second-biggest sales week of the year. Only Jack Johnson’s “Sleep Through the Static” had a bigger bow when it debuted at No. 1 with 375,000 in February. “Static” falls 4-5 in its seventh week on the chart with 67,000, despite a 21% increase.

Imagine how much higher their number would have been if the girls had had some real promo! I’m talking Letterman, Leno, and other late night TV appearances, and then some performances on the Today Show, The View, and Regis & Kelly. I’d still like to see them booked on those shows. It would help them repeat or even surpass their platinum-selling status!
